And what I would give for the magic to be real.

I think there’s some pondering needed to be done for people with this line of thinking. G.K. Chesterton once wrote that “fairy tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”

The problem with dwelling too much in the illusion that stories provide is that it takes away the essence of the tale, which is what one can take from it to make their real lives a richer and fuller experience. It’s the same thing with people who can’t seem to grasp the heart and soul of a story just because their packaged in what may be deemed, by a viewer’s standards, a decidedly unappealing wrapper.

Yes, the magic is not literally real, but the inspiration for it always, always comes from the real world. And the truth and true magic is in the reality, never in the delusion.
